Love. It is the greatest commandment, a gift from God, and the very foundation of life. But where can we look for guidance on how to love, especially in the context of a committed relationship such as marriage? The answer is as timeless as the question itself: the Holy Scriptures.

Imagine the scene: a desert landscape, a garden oasis, and a man named Adam. He lived in perfect communion with his Creator, tending to the Garden of Eden, surrounded by the splendor of creation. Yet, God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him" (Genesis 2:18).

Prayer for Couples

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the gift of love, a treasure beyond measure, a glimpse of Your divine nature. We are grateful for the journey of companionship and shared purpose that couples embark upon.

Lord, we pray for every couple today, whether they are newly entwined or have been journeying together for decades. Surround them with Your love and grace, and infuse their relationship with the wisdom and guidance that emanates from Your word.

Father, help them to love unconditionally, to forgive generously, and to serve each other selflessly, just as Christ loves and serves the Church. Teach them to communicate with patience and kindness, and guide them in understanding and respecting one another.

May their hearts beat in unison, not just with romantic love, but with a deep, enduring love that is patient, kind, and selfless. Help them to fulfill their roles as partners, nurturing, supporting, and challenging each other as they grow in grace and in the knowledge of You.

Give them strength in times of trial, joy in their shared moments, peace in their decisions, and love in their actions. Bless them, Lord, so their union can be a testament to Your love, a beacon of hope, and an example of steadfast commitment.

Father, make their home a haven of Your peace and let their lives be a reflection of Your love. In every season, may they find in each other a friend, a partner, and a soul mate, living out their days in the warmth of Your divine love and guidance.

In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
