43 Bible Verses about the Power of God

In a world full of chaos and uncertainty, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by our own weakness and powerlessness. But there is one source of strength that never fails, God’s power. These Bible verses about the power of God remind us that God alone has ultimate authority over all things in heaven and on earth.

In stark contrast to our own frailty, God’s power is everlasting and unshakeable. By looking at some key examples from Scripture, we can gain insight into how God displays his supernatural strength for His people today.

One powerful example comes from Job 26:14 which says “Behold these are but the outskirts of his ways; how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?” Here we see an awe-inspiring picture of just how much power God possesses. Even though His mighty works are often hidden to us, they still carry tremendous force beyond anything we can fully comprehend or imagine.

Another impressive display of God's power occurs during Moses' encounter with Pharaoh in Exodus 7-10. God sends ten different plagues on Egypt before finally releasing Israel from their bondage. Each plague serves as an unmistakable reminder that no earthly king holds dominion over what belongs to God alone—His people (Exodus 9:13).

When Joshua commands the walls around Jericho to come tumbling down (Joshua 6), God demonstrates that nothing stands between His sovereignty and those who trust in Him (Psalm 24:7–8).

One of the greatest demonstrations of God’s power is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The BIble promises that those who put their faith in Jesus will also be raised from the dead (Philippians 3:20-21).

Ultimately, these passages of scripture remind us why it is important for us to recognize God's omnipotence, so that we never lose hope in the promises of God and the power of his resurrection (1 Corinthians 1:18). When faced with life’s trials, we can rely on the promise that “God’s divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:3).

No matter what tribulations may come our way we have the comfort of knowing that God is powerful, and can overcome any adversity.

While our weaknesses will sometimes leave us feeling discouraged, deflated, and defeated, it is essential never to forget the assurance provided in scripture concerning the Almighty One who uses His power to offer protection, comfort, and deliverance for those who love Him.
