12 Essential Bible Verses about a Clean Heart
The Bible speaks often of the heart, usually in reference to our spiritual state. The heart is the center of our being, where our thoughts and emotions originate. It's no wonder, then, that God is so concerned with our hearts! A clean heart is essential to a right relationship with God.
So how can our heart be pure, if we are sinful (Mark 7:21-23)? The answer is that God cleanses our hearts when we repent and turn to Him. He washes away our sin and gives us a new heart - one that is full of His love and desire to please Him.
What does it mean in the Bible to love God with a pure heart? It means having an undivided loyalty to God - loving Him above all else. This kind of love comes from a clean heart that has been transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. When we have this kind of love for God, it will overflow into every area of our lives - including our relationships with others.

Prayer for a Clean Heart
Oh, Heavenly Father, I am a wretched sinner. I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed. I have not loved you with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I have not loved my neighbor as myself.
Forgive me, O Lord. Cleanse my heart of all unrighteousness. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence. Take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit.
